When Life Seems A Lonely Struggle ...
It's time to change and move forward
The thought of starting therapy can often seem daunting as it is sometimes difficult to ask for help when facing difficult times in your life. Often, life throws many surprises our way and whilst we cannot predict the outcome of any situation, we can take control of how we respond. Therapy opens the doors by providing the opportunity to make positive changes in your life, become unstuck, and move forward.
At Fenwick Counselling and Psychotherapy, based in Dundee, you will learn more about yourself, acceptance, and how to exert your power of choice over whatever life's challenges may bring to you.
You will have a safe and confidential space in which to talk and share the issues that you are facing that are causing you difficulties in life. Maybe you are feeling anxious? Stressed? Depressed? Stuck? Maybe you just need to talk and feel listened to?
At Fenwick Counselling and Psychotherapy, you will be listened to with empathy, care, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard. Using a Pluralistic Approach, we can explore your goals for therapy whether they be related to your past, present, or future.
Reaching out is your first step to positive change.

Pluralistic Counselling
“No one size fits all”
Pluralistic Counselling is centred around client and therapist collaboration, providing a safe and confidential space for dialogue around shared decision-making in relation to tasks, methods, and goals for therapy, working flexibly, and also effectively with client feedback. Within a Pluralistic Framework, I offer each client a comprehensive model of therapy on the understanding that different people need different things at different points in time. In other words - No one size fits all. We are all unique and using a pluralistic approach, your therapy will be uniquely tailored to your individual needs, wishes and preferences, giving you the tools and techniques to achieve a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle. We will work together to help you become well-versed at handling issues whenever and wherever they arise. Whether you prefer your counselling sessions to be 'free-flowing' or more structured or a combination of both, we will collaborate to find out what works best for you, and at your pace.

A warm welcome to Fenwick Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice, Dundee. My name is Maggi and I have worked in the field of Mental Health since 1996, helping individuals who present with conditions such as Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Personality Disorders, Trauma, PTSD/CPTSD, and Autism, to name but a few. My practice is neuro-affirmative - having a keen interest in sensory processing which extends to individuals with diagnosed / self-identified ADHD/Autism. I have a real passion for helping clients on their life’s journey, to grow and to flourish and to be all they can be.
Being a fully registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework.
My background is in Music Therapy (Mental Health, Learning Disability and PMLD); Multi-Sensory Story-writing and Behavioural Analysis Research of Children and Young People with PMLD (University of Dundee); and have a Specialism in Mental Health - Advocacy and Human Rights. I am a strong advocate for equality and inclusion, and am an author of academic publications in the fields of Neuropsychology and Disability.
During the course of my training as a research-informed Pluralistic Counsellor, I worked in the NHS counselling individuals with a diverse range of issues, providing both short and long-term therapy. As well as my interest in the fields of neuropsychology, music and disability, I have a passion for counselling adults who are Care Experienced (fostered or adopted) and carers, providing counselling from a place of empathy, experience, and understanding. I also have previous experience of Family and Children’s Services, advocating for parental rights, inclusion and social justice.
I am based in the Tayside area beside the Silvery Tay, and in my spare time, I enjoy playing piano, percussion, guitar and drums; gardening; creative writing; and relaxation time with family, friends and my adorable little ‘therapet’ ragdolls.

Previous clients -
I was anxious about starting counselling but soon developed a good bond with you. I opened up quite quickly because I felt at ease, could speak freely, and a lot quicker than I thought I would about my thoughts and feelings relating to my depression. It meant so much that you listened and took me seriously when it felt like no-one else did.
Rebecca W.
When I came to sessions, I felt like I was in a safe bubble. I felt reflective. You helped me process things in my life and open up to my feelings. Through counselling, I have come to terms with my past. What I will take away from this is huge and absolutely life-changing.
Jane K.
Maggi is incredibly professional. We shared a lot and had a good relationship. She was a lifesaver at times when I felt suicidal. Sometimes she makes a comment and I think ‘Oh, I’ve never considered that way of looking at things before’. Our sessions helped me be much more reflective and self-aware.
Samuel A.
Counselling with Maggi has helped across many parts of my life. My panic attacks have reduced, the nightmares have stopped, and I am sleeping much better. We worked through a lot, and I am able to say how I feel to others without turning into arguments. I have gained more control in my life.

Frequently Asked Questions
Your Questions Answered
How can I contact you?
The best way to make contact is by completing the online contact form and we will get back to you within 1-2 days. Alternatively, you could leave a voicemail on the office phone 07466535511.
Do you offer short or long-term therapy?
I offer both short and long-term therapy. We will collaborate about how best to meet your therapeutic needs.
What can I expect at my free 15min Introductory Tele-Session?
Your introductory session will be via telephone and gives you the opportunity to talk with your therapist to see if they are a good fit for you, to briefly explore what brings you to therapy, and to answer any questions you may have.
What happens at my first session?
Prior to your first session, you will receive an email with our Terms and Conditions, Confidentiality, and Privacy Policy. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about your therapy service provision. Your session will be held via your preference of either ONLINE, FACE-TO-FACE or TELEPHONE COUNSELLING.
At your first session, we will collaborate to explore what brought you to therapy and gather information to gain an understanding of what therapeutic tasks and methods may be useful in order to reach your goal/goals. At the start of therapy, you may be unsure what your goals are and this can be discussed with your therapist. Achieving positive outcomes and reaching your goals evolves throughout the course of your therapy and is kept under constant review.
How often are my therapy sessions?
Initially, it is recommended that therapy sessions are held weekly at the same time and place, followed by a 6-week Review. This provides the opportunity to form a therapeutic relationship, and to assess and discuss where we are in your therapy journey. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
How does online therapy compare to face-to-face?
Research shows that there is no significant difference in outcomes between online v’s face-to-face therapy. In other words, therapy can work just as well whichever mode you choose. There are obvious advantages and disadvantages of both (e.g. saving on travel costs/time and being in the comfort of your own home). Research also emphasises the importance of a good therapeutic relationship between you and your therapist, ensuring that your therapist is a good fit whether face-to-face or otherwise.
Can I request longer sessions or block bookings?
Yes. We try to be flexible to suit the needs of our clients. For example, double-bookings (availability permitting) can be arranged, as can paying in advance for block bookings if you find that works best for you. Please contact us for further information.
